Rest Easy is offered in response to growing security concerns. When purchased with a computer, Rest Easy includes our Network Security Setup, itself a $55 value, to provide you a secure connection to the Internet. Also included is the most current UB Tech Tools CD with campus approved Symantec AntiVirus software, UB’s Vista and Mac compatible VPN (Virtual Private Network) secure access software and a full copy on DVD of Microsoft Office 2007 for the PC or Office 2008 for the Mac. When purchased with a notebook computer Rest Easy also includes Computrace, stealth software designed to track your computer on the Internet should it become lost or stolen. Rest Easy pricing ranges from $29 to $139 - look for the half moon icons throughout this catalog.
Network Security Setup (NSS). This service includes the installation of anti-virus, UB’s VPN software for a secure connection to the campus network, and Ad-Aware protection from spyware. This service is also available to students bringing a computer from home. For a more complete description of NSS, see the chart on page 6.
Tech Tools. UB Tech Tools is a suite of software available to help you get safely connected at UB. Included on the CD are Symantec AntiVirus software, a $69.95 value when purchased off campus, and UBVPN virtual private network which allows you to securely send data to and from UB. It is best to install Tech Tools software from the CD before connecting to the internet.
Microsoft Office. You will receive a full copy on DVD of Microsoft Office 2007 for the PC or Office 2008 for the MAC when Rest Easy is purchased with any computer from UBMicro. These are full versions which retail for up to $499 off campus. Office 2007 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint , Groove, InfoPath, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access. Office 2008 Professional for the Mac includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Entourage. Microsoft Office is a user installed program.
Computrace. The popularity of notebook and other mobile computing devices has unfortunately introduced the problem of misplaced, lost or stolen devices. Computrace is stealth software that enables mobile devices to be detected and located when they’re connected to the Internet. If reported stolen, Computrace monitoring staff will automatically contact law enforcement officials to initiate recovery. For added assurance, Computrace offers a $1,000 guarantee for systems not recovered within 60 days.
